Iraq warn the international society in Panama summit from the risks of corruption upon the people fortune and development programs

Iraq confirms that the International society should be aware about the serious risks threaten people fortune with exhausting due to corruption crimes.

The chief of the Iraqi delegation to the summit of 5th session of the states parties to the UNCAC  which has started in Panama last night that our people fortune will be exhausted by corruption whatever how big it was undermining the state`s construction plans taking opportunities of decent liven from societies.

The chief of delegation judge Alaa Jwad Hameed Commissioner of CoI stress in his speech before the representatives of 167 state`s parties to UNCAC that corruption is considered as a crime against humanity so the International society especially states parties will be committed to adopt clear and serious procedures to impede corruptors.

He highlighted on the huge difficulties that facing member states in the field of implementing the provisions of UNCAC focusing on the need of transparency and accountability in corruption cases procedures and to enforce all states to follow up clear and extend mechanism of cooperation which allow the related states to extradite and recover their stolen assets and convicts with corruption crimes. He urge on soliciting states that protect corruptors and prepare opportunities for them to invest and work with the stolen money requesting that annual reports should be issued to nominate these countries similarly of  CPI.

Judge Hameed show the steps taken by Iraq in the field of fighting corruption since the establishment of CoI in 2004 and the measurements implemented by Iraq to prevent society from     corruption including the prevention and cultivating procedures to impede corruption climates and corruptors.

He mentioned the Iraqi success in securing UNCAC requirements confirmed by Jordan and Malaysia who were subjected to review Iraq for chapters 3 – 4 from the convention that related with criminalization, law enforcement, international cooperation, extradition and joint investigation.

CoI Commissioner assured that Iraq is prepared now to review the requirements of chapters 2and 5 from UNCAC during review phases that will be started in 2015. The chapters related with preventive arrangements, Anti-Corruption policies and practices on different levels, money recovery related rules and its mechanisms as well as cooperation areas among countries.

CoI chief of the Iraqi delegation to Panama Summit suggested adopting, with every review, practical procedures that UNCAC state parties will agree upon and will bind all, as well as dissatisfy with theorization forms or taking inapplicable arrangements.

The delegates will discuss, in four days, the progress that some of UNCAC state parties made on the way of implementing its requirements and their success in fighting corruption in their countries. In addition to, showing the most successful experiments in that area and consult about the aspects that requires international cooperation in fighting corruption cases.

Number of countries is discussing the problems and difficulties that they are facing in fighting the corruption phenomena and the possibilities that the United Nations can offer to support UNCAC state parties to implement and achieve its provisions.

The 5th summit of UNCAC members are discussing civil society organizations role in supporting states efforts in fighting corruption and the present preparations to review state parties efforts in implementing the requirements of UNCAC chapters 2 and 5.
