Under the auspicious of Judge Raheem Al-Uqailee, the Acting Commissioner of the COI, a meeting of 19 Iraqi NGOs was held at the Commission main office, on 2 June 2009.
The objective of the meeting is to consider the ability to form an alliance of a number of NGOs to activate the role of civil society in preventing, fighting corruption and educating the public about the seriousness of the problems and threats imposed by corruption, and spreading the culture of integrity.
The meeting also has stressed zero-tolerance concept with the corrupted, in accordance with article 13 of the UN Convention Against Corruption, that Iraq has endorsed it by law No.35of 2007.  
The participants have agreed on the importance of the role that NGOs represent in the field of fighting corruption, as well the necessity of collaboration and coordination between the COI and NGOs, regarding revealing the corruption. Basically, the discussion focused on reviewing the internal system provisions for the alliance intended to form.
The meeting was attended by:

12.  Iraqi reconciliation centre. 13.  Union of students and youth of Iraq.
14.  NGOs coordinating committee.
15.  Tamuz organization for social development.
16.  Al-Ferdoos Iraqi association.
17.  Culture for all association.
18.  Al- Nehren organization for relief and development.
19.  The youth of parliament.
