CoI mentioned that ministry of labor and social affairs greatly responded to remarks related to the elderly homes.

Survey team of CoI prevention department that a number of inmates of the home for the elderly which is about to fall in Al-Rashad area will be transferred soon to a new house in the Suleikh area characterized by modernity and good furniture.

And the team had criticized in the survey report in May 2011 the situation of elderly guests who were mingled with the arrested beggars and people with severe disabilities and psychological aggression cases.

In the mentioned report, the team presented number of proposals to the Ministry of labor including the creation of a medical unit equipped with the necessary equipment to meet elderly patients treatment and provide legal advice to them in exchange for being bothered to visit the government offices and prepare recreational and social activities for them including Hajj and Umrah and visit holy shrines.

And the team requested the separation of elderly from disabled and patients with aggressive psychological diseases, increasing salary of the non retired and strengthening management and technical staff to take care of the elderly.

The team noted through his remarks recorded in his visit last month that the Ministry of health opened buildings for the elderly in its hospitals and treated difficult cases abroad and provided an ambulance with a healthy staff for home of the elderly.

The team said that the Ministry of labor had visited a number of the elderly home staff and doubled salary to ID 60,000 per month along with meals and clothing, accommodation and other services.

The team added that the home for the elderly in the suleikh district which will hopefully be received this month will need a feminist cadre that takes care of elderly women inmates.

The elderly house officials in the Ministry of labor and Social Affairs revealed that the old building of house the elderly in the Al-Rashad area will be demolished soon to build another modern house on its location along with the establishment of modern house next year in Dhi_Qar governorate and a similar complete building in Salah-Aldeen is going to be opened and provided with full staff.
