CoI Bribery Indicators lowered to less than 3% in March, peoples, in half of the surveyed offices, did not pay bribes

Commission of Integrity Surveys showed that the citizens in half of the covered offices in the whole provinces except those in Kurdistan, have had not to bribe the employees to get their petitions accomplished last March.

Through analyzing the out comes of the questionnaire, for 21803 people as were polled, it comes to result that bribery indicators stayed under 3%  by turns of the last five months, while it was 2.6% last month.

Analysts sketched the bribery indicators on 20470 questionnaire forms, however they excluded 874 forms as were irrelevant and 459 ones were inaccurate.  


532 man and woman said that they did pay bribes, 204 refused to say while 19734 said that they got their business completed without paying any bribes.

In justifying their illegal and illegitimate behavior, 128 of the bribes payers said they did so due to the requests of the employees to speed up completing petitions. 155 of them said that the offices delaying their petitions, while 19 of them said that their petitions were not legal. 20 persons mentioned other causes, however  216 citizens had not set out any reasons.

At the top of the bribes payer list were 431 males of different ages while the females were 94. Moreover, seven of them did not mention their gender. These numbers match the number of  those who did not pay bribes as it was 14729 of males and 4895 of females in different ages, in addition to 110 did not mentioned their gender.

Bribes payers covered by this survey were of varied academic qualifications. (four) were holding Ph. D , (nine) master degree, (155) Bachelor degree, (74) diploma, (69) high school, (96) secondary school, (73) primary school, (35) can not read or write while (18) of them did not mentioned their education level.

While the education level of those did not pay bribes was as following: (46) Ph.D , (199) Master degree, (2583) Bachelor degree, (1806) diploma, (2876) high school, (4527) secondary school, (4936) primary school, (2583) can not read or write while (353) abstained from mentioning their education levels.  

In March, the CoI surveys on  level of bribery covered 354 offices in Baghdad and   in other 14 provinces, except Kurdistan. In which the citizens responses show that 162 public employees did not asked for bribes, i.e 48.6% of the surveyed offices.

The clean of corruption offices surveyed in March were 35 offices in Baghdad, 24 in Nineveh, 17 in the holy Karbala, 15 in Muthna, 14 in Diala, Saladin and Maysan, 7 in Najaf al Ashraf, 6 in Diwaniya and Thi Qar, 3 in Karkuk and 2 in Basra. Offices in Anbar and Bable were not covered.
