Bribery indicators in the Iraqi government offices … CoI questionnaire for September

CoI issued bribery indicator, for last Sept., covering all over Iraqi offices except Kurdistan region on its website (www.nazaha.iq).

The questionnaire included (21356) persons who visit the offices during last September. It showed that (711) persons 3.23% practiced bribery (577) males, 136 females and 18 did not registered their gender in the questionnaire form.

The age categories, which represent who are willing to pay a bribe, were (21-30), (31-40) and (41-50) years respectively. The questionnaire revealed that people with High school and Bachelor degrees were the most ready people to pay a bribe. Among the reasons that led those people to pay a bribe is that the desire to speed up completion their petitions. The reason behind paying the bribe is that the office is delaying or blocking their petition. The total ratio for paying this kind of bribery is (32.78%), while (2.45%) was the ratio for promoting illegal petitions.

                                         

The questionnaire covered (365) offices most of these offices were in Baghdad. It curried out over (95) offices, whereas the number of the offices varied in the rest of the provinces. Kirkuk was the least in the number of the covered offices (14).
