Implementing United Nation Convention Against Corruption: CoI Commissioner Heads a Meeting With The bosses of Technical Committees

Mnagers and representatives of committees charged with drafting and implementing UNCAC held a meeting moderated by Commissioner judge Ala`a Jawad hameed.

 

Deputy Sabah Al-Sa`idi, inspector generals in many ministries and independents commissions, director generals of CoI who are in charged of these committees to carry out the recommendations of Amman meeting held in last March between the Iraqi experts and Un representatives.

 

Results of committees work were offered in the meeting to implement those recommendations which targeted to activate the auditing role of parliament and urging to enact the laws of fighting corruption and auditing entities to ensure transparency and auditing financing of political parties and election campaigns.

 

Participants also discussed the drafts of two laws projects"Witnesses,informants and victims & The right of information awareness."

 

Attendants handled some topics such as: The stages of experts work to draft the code of non-conflict of interest, periodical assessment to carry out national plans and policies to fight corruption, drafting of the legal framework of code of conduct & ratification of financial disclosure for high senior officials and the program of collecting texts dealt with fighting corruption in Iraq.

 

Dialogists visions ended with activating technical committees work and preparing for deliberating meeting before the end of next May between the experts concerned with implementing UNCAC to revise the final reports for these committees and asses their work.

 

They agreed to organize a joint meeting with Electoral Commission members to get full information about regulations deal with election campaigns financing and enhancing coordination with parts concerning with drafting laws projects relevant with the code of UNCAC.

 

Participants confirmed on the necessity to provide the UNODC about what has been achieved in Iraq to carry out his obligations towards UNCAC and the hard work to activate NGOs role in this respect, in addition to escalate the media department in CoI and documenting its cooperation with varies media entities to highlight on Iraqi obligations to carry out UNCAC requirements.
