CoI appreciates the role of the concerned individuals and entities for their success in fighting corruption (which became another form of terrorism that implies no blood eroding Iraq and threatening his future and national wealth.
CoI spokesperson Mr. Hassan Kareem A’ati said in an official statement: “CoI highly evaluates the participation of the individuals and national parties in achieving its national, legal and ethical responsibilities for protecting the public money and to ensure the well professional behavior for the government employees according to the applicable laws”.
CoI spokesperson emphasis on “CoI strongly committed in making its professional goal succeed depending on investigating in cases, referred to it by the parliamentary integrity committee, IG’s offices, BSA, other governmental offices, directly for people, E-mail or telephone”.
He focused on “CoI is ultimately restricted in not to defame or effecting the investigation or judiciary equity through mass media”. He said “our basic goal is to reach the truth in protecting public money and provide crucial evidences so that the judiciary system will take equitable decisions against public money offenders, misuse of position, embezzlers or anyone tried to”. He also added “we use to do that the reports submitted to us by the specialized offices and specialists to evaluate the importance of evidences in convicting public money offender or misused his power and in result caused wasting of public money”.
He dragged the attention for “some individuals share the burden with CoI, who are eager to protect the public money, have no full understanding about CoI responsibilities and legal obligations and they led the commission into wrong directions. Like for example, pushing to refer cases to investigation before finishing the proper procedures, defaming people through mass media without having the court final decision against them to be convicted, publishing a report about CoI achieving its job slowly or corruption is wide spread in the government by accusing all Iraqi government employees”.
He also pointed out “that inclusive accusing assists corruptors’ benefit in an indirect way and helps them to get away from psychological, social and legal consequences”.
He shade the light over some damages, caused to Iraq, as a result for carrying these impressions into the international society and he said “those, who we talk about, neglected the big efforts by the judicial, auditing, legislative and executive entities in fighting this phenomenon where as Iraq had passed a big round in securing the needs to implement UNCAC".
He pointed out to that “the negative reflections for these behaviors became clear by weakness, cease of investment, jobless and failure of the government and non-government program or the delay in achieve it”.
He praised on the citizens for supporting the commission to succeed in its duties. He said “what makes us participate with the public is to achieve the effective participation in fighting corruption and corruptors and to ensure the safety of public money and the citizen’s right in it. And this is what makes CoI to emphasis that it job should be professional, according to proper legal procedures, and that CoI procedures should be capable for providing the best and accurate chances to convict corruptors without leaving any small detail to create a legal gap helps them to avoid Role of Law”.
He assured that “CoI is aware of the reasons behind citizens’ enthusiasm and the necessity to expose corruptors and publicize it with no fear of what is going to be said, but on the other side it has a big mission around the country. And all its reports from corruption allegations, reports, evidences and documents need some time to be studied by the concerned entities and first by the Iraqi judiciary. But CoI will not fail or be lazy in any case including any convict regarding his position, political, religious, national and geographic origin”.
He expressed his confidence “there are too many friends for CoI that we cannot count them”. He said “the enemy of CoI, cases or entities, are not people but the corruption itself” considering that “the person who attempt to do corruption, is the one who chooses a wrong way in standing in front on the country and the public money before being against CoI and in our turn, according to law, we will expose him and hold responsibility through judiciary”.
He summarized “CoI appreciates everyone who helped and supported CoI in its achievements, and it ensures the transparency of its work in front of the public except the work that will make it as a partner in defaming or effecting judiciary before acquiring the final decision against convicts depending on others will in fighting corruption”.
