COI revealed that subpoenas were issued against high rank officials in Najaf, indicating that the orders issued in accordance with the provisions of Article (340) of the Iraqi Penal Code.
COI’s Investigation Office, while it talking about the details of the two cases, it investigated and were referred them to court, pointed out that the court on integrity cases-Najaf issued subpoenas against the suspects, former head of the provincial council and the head of the Najaf Investment Commission and the governor’s adviser as well as former member of the board of investment commission, to be investigated them on granting of investment license No. 1 of 2008 to an Arabic Company for five years to establish airport in Najaf. The license was issued by the Province’s Investment Commission against the law.
The office added that the court issued subpoena against the deputy head of the provincial council over the case of opening financial accounts without approval of Ministry of Finance, pointing out that these accounts related to amounts collected by selling residential land plots in addition to the province’s share comes from fees of visitors and revenues of lot garages in Najaf.
