Basrah investigation directorate was able to thwart an attempt to smuggle palm shoot prohibited of being imported, indicating that the palm shoots were shipped on one of vessels sailed from an Arabian country.

In the course of talking about the seizure operations details, CoI investigation office indicated that a teamwork of Basra investigation directorate was able to seize the palms loaded on a truck belong to one of the captured accused persons. It clarified that the palm shoots have been imported as being plastic ornamental trees in collaboration with inspection committee.

It also added that a legal seizure report was organized of the accused and the seized materials according to an arrest warrant; the accused has been referred before the competent investigating judge to take the applicable legal action.

It is worth to be mentioned that the directorate announced on 9th of May that it was capable of seizing the head assistant of Safwan custom entry point and two members of inspection committee for facilitating illegal petitions of importing juices and flavors for benefit of one private companies.
