Agricultural Bank’s former Director-General sentenced to jail for wasting 15 billion dinars

COI, s investigation office announced the detailed of the sentence issued against the Director-General of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank in the past, while it revealed wasting 15 billion dinars of public money.

The office indicated in the course of its speech the details of the case investigated and referred to the judiciary, pointed out that the convict, who held the position of the DG the Agricultural Cooperative Bank that deliberated damage to public money when the bank granted a loan of 15 billion dinars to one of the private company, indicating that the granted loan was an exception to the geographical area, as well as the loan exceeded the company`s capital that was granted to it.

The office confirmed that the obtained evidence of the case as the statement of the legal representative of the Agricultural Bank and the minutes of the administrative investigation indicated that the accused was conformed omission as well as his escaped from justice. This led the court to the conviction that he had convict him, and sentenced him according to the provisions of Article 340 of the Penal Code in reference to the articles 47, 48 and 49.

The office said that the judgment in absentia issued last mid-April by the criminal court specialized in Integrity cases stated to sentence the convicted to seven years` imprisonment, in addition to that the affected party has the right to ask for compensation and to seize his movable and immovable property.
