Seizing (37) culprits exploited lands belonging to terrorism victims in Nineveh

The Commission of Integrity carried out a seizure operation against 37 culprits who established quarries on lands belonging to the victims of terrorism, martyrs and those injured by terrorist acts in Nineveh province.

CoI’s Office of Investigations, referring to the seizure operation carried out under judicial warrants, indicated that 37 culprits had been arrested in the Qaza Fakhra area on the Mosul-Quir road, for establishing quarries, holes and transportation of Tekla material in three lands belonging to victims of terrorism, indicating that the drilling operations by the accused persons resulted in the removal of the features of the land by because of the holes which depths were over twenty meters, and a diameter of up to (150) meters each.

The Office explained that the Directorate`s staff seized 35 different vehicles, trucks, receipts and records of the quarries built in violation of the law, and were presented with the defendants to the judicial investigation body that decided to arrest the defendants based on the provisions of Article 444/11 of the Iraqi Penal Code.

Noteworthy to mention that CoI had announced on the 11th this month, that the work team of Nineveh Investigation Directorate managed to seize (66) persons accused of violating the archaeological lands belonging to the Nineveh Antiquities Directorate, in addition to other lands located by the Khoser River, as they exploited those land to build stores and shops to sell construction materials.
