COI investigation office announced that the second Diyala Criminal Court issued a sentence in absentia to seven years imprisonment against the former Khanaqin oil depot’s director for damaging public money with more than 600.000.000 dinars, which affected the interests of the entity she worked for.
The Office mentioned in the course of its speech, the details of the case indicating that the fugitive accused damaged the funds and interests of the Ministry of Oil, disclosing a big shortage in the quantity of oil products in Khanaqin oil depot’s due to her negligence in the performance of her duties; knowingly, the amount of damage in this case amounted to 628.455.000 dinars.
The court, after reviewing the obtained evidence in this case represented by the statement of the legal representative of Oil Products Distribution Company - Diyala Branch, who conformed the existences of financial and administrative violations in the depot, moreover the established committee in the Office of Inspector General in Ministry of Oil confirmed the omission of the fugitive accused and requested to file a complaint against her, in addition to the testimony of witnesses and the presumption of escape of the accused, thus the court found it is sufficient and convincing to convict her according to the provisions of Article 340 of the Penal Code based on the articles 47, 48 and 49 thereof.
The verdict included the issuance of an arrest warrant against the accused and conforming the seizure of her movable and immovable assets, while the affected party has the right to ask for compensation before the civil courts after the sentence becomes final.
