Commission of Integrity announced the seizure of 14 officials and employees in the divan of Nineveh province, on charges of embezzlement and waste of state funds, revealing the seizure of more than 15 billion dinars in their trust.

CoI’s investigation office reported that Nineveh investigation office carried out five seizer orders under judicial arrest warrants resulting in the seizure of 14 officials and employees in the province, under the provisions of Article 315 of the Iraqi Penal Code.

The office revealed that the office`s staff seized IQDs (8.700.000.000) in cash, while they seized IQDs (5,000,000,000) in the branch of one of the government banks, while they seized IQDs (1.435.000.000) in the department of engineering of local administration in the governorate office.

The office pointed out that the arrested persons are the chairman and members of committees formed for withdrawing the amounts of the rural development section of the projects for the roads rehabilitation of villages and rural areas and distributing it between the sub-committees, indicating that the total amount’s seized documents by the office`s staff amounted to 57 billion dinars, and it is following up the rest of the sums.

It added that the staff organized a fundamental seizure report of the operations, which were carried out based on judicial orders. The report, the investigation documents and the seized evidence with the accused person were presented before the competent investigating judge, who decided to arrest the accused persons to take legal actions.
