Lack of study of reality of area led to cessation of service projects

Monitoring leakage in sewage water transport lines despite its recent establishment


COI disclosed the results of its team for monitoring and following up the reality of the projects and services provided in Al-Maqal area in Basrah Governorate.

COI identified in its report addition new paragraphs to address the mistakes after commencement of implementation, calling for the preservation of acceleration of the ratification of additions and completion of works to prevent from being stopped.

The report noted the suffering of the citizens as a result of the large number of excavations, waste and abuse on the streets and the constructions existing in the area, which caused sinking of some streets and failure of the municipality of Basra to fulfill its obligations towards the transgressors, in addition to leaks of sewage water pipelines, although it was newly established in 2014 and the ex ecuting company carried out excavations caused significant damage to the sidewalks and the street, which was paved modern.

The report noted absence of any role of the water, sewage and municipal administrations in the region, and the failure to take appropriate measures to deal with cases of passing on water networks, streets and squares and the accumulation of waste, pointing out that these parties do not address the damages to water networks and sewerage and passing on the streets.

The report recommended to address the province of Basra to lift the excesses on the sidewalks and streets in coordination with the Basra Operations Command, and conduct a campaign to clean up and remove debris and treatment of damages in the streets, until completion of projects without delay, as well as file law suit against those who infringe and built a commercial buildings on the property of the state in violation to the law and activate the role of resident engineer and address the problems that hinder the work of government companies at the time of commencement of projects.

It is worth mentioning, COI announced that the investigation teams it had set up in October 2018 for sorting the criminal cases in accordance with their importance and completing the investigation on the reconstruction projects, services and investment, was able to monitor (2736) lagging projects amounted to about 36 trillion dinars.
