CoI’s Office of Investigations announced that its staff at Karbala and Salahuddin Investigation Offices, after monitoring and investigating, had been able to carry out two seizure operations against culprits embezzled State funds in the two governorates.
In a statement on the details of the two operations, the Office reported that a team from CoI’s Karbala Investigation Office managed to arrest one of the accused employees in the Accounts Section of the Karbala Education Directorate for embezzling money, and seized the log book Which contained 16 cheques, indicating that the value of one of the cheques amounted to (350.000.000) dinars.
The Office indicated that a due seizure minutes was organized for the exhibits caught along with the documents and the accused, and submitted them before the competent investigative judge who decided to arrest the accused in accordance with the provisions of Article 340/ Penal Code, issue subpoenas and arrest warrants against anyone involved in the embezzlement.
The Office added that a team from CoI’s Salahuddin Investigation Office managed to arrest five culprits, including the director of a fuel station in the province, for embezzling amounts of fuel sold by manipulating with the gauges of fuel quantities sold to citizens, pointing out that the two seizures were carried out under judicial warrants.
It confirmed the organization of a seizure minutes of all seized exhibits, as well as the investigative papers, and submitted them to the competent investigative judge to take proper legal action.
