COI has been able to control four areas in Kirkuk through which the smuggling Internet bit, indicating that what was smuggled through those areas cost the state one million dollars a month.
Investigation office/COI showed that a technical team, formed according to a ministerial order issued by COI, under the supervision of assistant of Director of the Investigation Office–COI-in Kirkuk and membership of investigator, engineer from the office, as well as members from Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Communications’ IG and Communications and Information Technology Commission in coordination with National Security managed to seize four smuggle operations in Governorate, indicating that the areas through which the smuggling was carried out are Alton Kobri, Al-Dabas, Shawan, Sabaknin and Shawraw.
The operations, which were carried out in those areas under writ, led to cut the smuggling lines, dropping towers built in contrary to the law and seizing transmission devices, equipment and tools used in the smuggling operations, which caused large damages to the public money and effected on the services providing to citizens and evading government observation of smuggling bits.
The technical team concerned with operations presented all exhibits before the competent investigation judge, as well as the director of privet company accused of involvement in the smuggling operations in the governorate. The judge decided to detain the suspect under investigation.
