CoI’s investigation office revealed the seizure of advances documents issued by the management of Al-Najaf International Airport with the amount of $ 1 million to a number of companies in contrary to the law.

In the course of discussing the seizer operation details, the Office revealed the details of the arrest operation carried out by a team from Najaf Investigation directorate under a judicial order in accordance with the provisions of article 331/Penal Code, which, led to the seizure of original advances documents issued to three companies with total amount of 1 million dollars. The office assured that the amount was neither deposited in a bank nor a receiving receipt was issued.

The preliminary investigations conducted by the team, which moved to the airport, revealed that the revenue unit in the airport accounts departments which paid the said amount, did not indicate the reasons and mechanisms on which the payment was made, which was in contrary to the rules and regulations.

It is worth mentioning that the Commission of Integrity revealed in September of last year that the team formed in Najaf investigation directorate to audit the projects of the airport, implemented number of operations resulted in the seizure of violations in a number of contracts concluded by the previous administration of the airport with the amount sixteen million six hundred thousand dollars.
