CoI captured, by coordinating with an official, two contractors red-handed with bribery.
A woman tried tempting the official to accept two million dollars claiming that she is the representative of Lebanese and Turkish companies, and then she raised the bribery up to two and a half million dollars. This urged the official to inform the CoI, which in its turn formed a field team to follow and monitor the suspects till they were captured red-handed handing over the check with the mentioned money to the concerned official in one of the restaurants.
The purpose behind this bribery was to award an investment project to these companies. This operation was one of the selective operations that CoI executed in fighting corruption. Moreover, the operation gives an important role to citizen in supporting the auditing authorities.
