Commission of Integrity revealed that it was able to thwart an attempt to smuggle three containers loaded with engine oil from port of North Umm Qaser in Basra Province, indicating that its staffs in province seized the accused persons red-handed with smuggling.
In the course of discussing seizure operation details that were implemented according to a judicial order under article 340 of P.C, CoI’s investigation office stated, that the staffs of investigation directorate in the province were able to arrest the assistant of director of the North Umm Qaser Customs, the head of inspection committee and one of its members red-handed with the attempt of smuggling three containers loaded with engine oil.
Preliminary investigations, which carried out by directorate, led to the defendants’ involvement and their approval for smuggling of containers containing imported motor oil in violation of the law.
The defendants` statements were recorded in order to refer them to the court to ratify their statements before the investigation judge.
