CoI announced today that it had carried out two separate arrests in the governorates of Maysan and Kirkuk, indicating that it had been able to arrest two accused persons for taking over and exploiting property belonging to the State without justification.
CoI’s Office of Investigation confirmed, while reporting on the two seizure operations carried out under two judicial writs, that the staff of the Maysan investigation office in the province of Maysan were able to arrest one of the accused persons on the basis of the provisions of resolution 154 for exploiting and disposing of a 1000 m2 belonging to the municipality of Amara .
The Office pointed out that its investigations had led to finding out that the defendant had taken over and disposed of a plot of land located in the area of (Abu Romaneh) originally allocated for the establishment of a commercial market, and his refusal to evacuate the plot despite the warnings sent to him.
In addition, the Office noted that the staff of the investigation office in Kirkuk governorate had conducted an investigation against an accused based on the provisions of Article 240 of the Penal Code, for exploiting and disposing of a plot belonging to the governorate’s municipality.
The Office continued saying that its investigations had led to finding out that the defendant had taken over and disposed of a plot in the Al-Mu’allimeen district illegally, and made construction work and the digging of foundations in that land.
CoI announced on Wednesday that it had been able to recover real estates in Basra, Babil and Karbala governorates to the property of the state, amounted to 11 billion dinars, indicating that these operations came in the framework of the Commission’s attention to follow up the file of real estate belonging to the state in Baghdad and the provinces, regarding that as one of its priorities. For that, it has formed a committee for inventorying and investigating the violations on real estate.
