Commission of Integrity returns real estates valued 11 billion dinars in Basra, Babil, and Karbala to state ownership

COI Office of Investigations revealed for implementation of a number of seizure operations resulted in the return of ownership of real estate in provinces of Basra, Babil and Karbala. The operation was implemented by COI’s staff. The Office indicated that these operations come in the framework of COI’s attention to follow up the file of real estate belong to the state in Baghdad and provinces, which was considered as its priorities and formed a committee to carry out the task of inventory and investigate violations.

The Office confirmed that directorate of Basra investigation managed via two separate operations to return the ownership of two properties of the municipality, which were seized in collusion with a number of employees of Basra Municipality and the Committee of lift abuses in the province, indicating that the two properties located in the city center were exploited; to establish shops and car wash station.

The Office pointed out that Karbala Office of Investigation was able to disclose manipulation and counterfeiting took place in one of 7 dunums of real estate belong to the Ministry of Finance which was allocated to the National Intelligence Service, indicating that the team of Karbala Investigation Office, which conducted investigations was able to disclose fraud in petition of real estate that has been changed to other persons in violation to the law.

The Office noted that the property, which is located in the center of Karbala city, estimated at more than (3.150 billion) dinars was handed over to the office of State of Real Estate and Directorate of Intelligence Service in the province under a delivery note.

In the province of Babil, COI Office of Investigation teamwork managed to seize a file and related documents of a real estate seized by a group of persons contrary to the law and issued a title deed and registered in their names. The property area of 13 donums, (7 billion) dinars was re-restarted in the name of the Ministry of Finance.

The seizure operations carried out in the three provinces for the manipulation and counterfeiting of real estate worth about 11 billion dinars, were based on arrest warrants, the Office confirmed.

It should be noted, the commission within this file in particular (State’s real estate), was able to return ownership of tens of real estates and lands to the state after it disclosed manipulation and forgery in its records. The estimated value of those properties recovered over the past year was 250.000.000.000 dinars.
