After monitoring media reports, COI, case of Turkish restaurant before Judicial

COI revealed that the investigation of investigative teams about leasing the Turkish Restaurant led to discover lagging committed by tenant in implementation of the terms of the contract, indicating that the case is now before the courts.

COI confirmed in report about the results of its investigative teams that the tenant lagged and violated in carrying out the contact’s terms, and the case is currently before the courts for consideration, noting that the tenant is required to pay debts of 862,000,000 million dinars. Note that the duration of the tenancy contract of building, which consists of 14 floors and an area of 3060 m2, is 30 years as well as the annual rent of the building is 140 million dinars.

The report, which came to verify the information was mentioned in the report of one of the satellite channels and monitored by the Media Center of the COI and referred to the COI’s Commissioner, about the existence of irregularities in referring the building (Turkish restaurant) to one of the investors, pointed out that the project is not included in investment contracts, but it was presented as a public bidding for rent, rehabilitation and development, based on the Law of Sale and Rent of State Funds No. 32 of 1986.

COI’s teamwork, which monitored lagging of the Municipality of Baghdad in following the rates of completion of AL-tahreer building (Turkish Restaurant), recommended referring the case to IG’s of the Municipality of Baghdad for completing the investigation in order to identify the reasons of delay and lagging.
