COI Office of Investigation revealed that the Criminal Court Competent of Corruption Cases in Baghdad sentenced in absentia to seven years` imprisonment against the Director of State Property in the former Saladin governorate for causing intentional damage to the funds of the entity in which he worked.
While talking about the case details, the Office confirmed that the convicted has committed manipulation in the file of a plot to be registered in the names of citizens based on forged letters claimed their issuance by the State Property Registration, explaining that such land is an archeological and was taken by a woman under contract with the Directorate of Agriculture in Salahaddin until 2009.
After the court having testimony reviewed of the legal representative of the Real Estate Registration, stated that the accused had sorted the plot in violation to regulations, in addition to the minutes of the investigative committee which proved the accused`s tort and referred him to the COI, the testimony of witnesses and resumption of the accused escape are sufficient to criminalize and convict him pursuant to the article 340 of Penal Code.
The decision issued last month included issuing an arrest warrant against the convicted person, supporting the seizure of his movable and immovable property, as well as the damaged party shall have the right to seek compensation before the civil courts after the division comes final .
