CoI’s Prevention Office recommended to support central entry points with personnel from I.G office of Ministry of Interior and General Customs Authority to monitor violations and work obstacles as well as to audit customs issues, noting the need to increase number of X-ray devices in these entry points.
In a report on the visit of a joint work team from Prevention Office and I.G office of Ministry of Interior to Sha’ab checkpoint on the road between the provinces of Baghdad and Diyala, the Office called to verify the information mentioned in a report of a satellite channel, monitored by CoI media center and was referred to CoI Commissioner about the irregularities in the trucks parking lot near the checkpoint, demanding Ministry of Health and Environment to determine the impact of X-ray devices on food and medicines, Where vehicles loaded with food and medicines are subject to examination by the X-ray trucks several times since entering the northern border until reaching Baghdad.
The report stressed the importance of maintaining X-ray devices continuously, which in turn leads to huge traffic jam and delay of trucks, pointing the need to give priority for loaded trucks according to the kind of loaded materials, of which some may be damaged or expired because of delay.
The report confirmed that there is a conflict in orders directed by Baghdad Investment Commission and Baghdad Provincial Council to the company that manages the yard of commercial and agricultural stuff exchange in the entrance of Baghdad - Rashidiya, as well as closing the parking lot close the command of Sha’ab checkpoint with concrete blocks, which is the place where all load vehicles should be weighed by trucks balance.
