COI discusses ways to cooperate on monitoring projects funded by USAID

The COI Commissioner (Ezzat Tawfiq Jaffar), and the delegation of the (USAID) discussed means of enhancing cooperation for monitoring the projects funded by the Agency in Iraq, especially in the liberated areas of the terrorist ISIS.

During the meeting, the Commissioner stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Commission and International organizations, and the initiative to monitor the projects funded by the organization in Iraq, based on the legal powers, expressing the Commission’s readiness to assist and monitor the projects funded by them in Iraq. The Commissioner noted to dozens of issues related to the default projects in the liberated area in which the Commission investigates, and may be funded by UASID.

For their part, representatives of the Agency expressed their happiness at the initiative of the Commission on providing assistance to monitor projects funded by the Agency and facilitate the task of prosecution of those whom accused of corruption issues related to these projects, looking forward to continue meetings and intensify the channels of joint work after reviewing the map of projects; in order to search the possibility of providing assistance by the Commission in its monitoring, particularly the defaulted once or that may be subject to corruption suspicions.

It should be noted, USAID is an International Agency responsible for managing foreign aid to civilians, implementing development assistance programs, assisting people aspire to improve their living conditions, recovering from disasters, and promote their economic and agricultural growth.
