CoI Commissioner, Judge (Izzat Tawfiq Jafar) and the head of the Commission of Human Rights (Aqeel Moussawi) discussed ways to strengthen the bonds of joint cooperation and to prepare the memorandum of understanding between the two commissions.
CoI Commissioner confirmed during the meeting, CoI’s efforts to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and open channels of joint action with all State institutions. He called for dealing with the outputs of the work of the oversight bodies impartially and professionally as CoI seeks to evaluate the work of these institutions and improve the level of services provided to citizens, pointing out many common areas of work in which the two commissions meet..
For his part, the head of the Commission of Human Rights (Aqeel Moussawi) stressed the fact that corruption is one of the most serious threats to human rights, calling for strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the Commission and the overdight bodies in order to reduce the paths of corruption and achieve the goals for which the Commission was established.
The meeting, which was attended by the Directors General of the legal Office (Modher Al-Juboori) and Prevention Office (Dr. Mutaz Al-Abassi) on behalf on the CoI and the member of the Committee (Mushreq Naji) and the director of relations and international cooperation (Mohammad Al-Nawab) on behalf of the Commission, presented the views of both parties to maturity the idea of concluding a memorandum of understanding between Commission of Human rights and the Commission of Integrity to draw the boundaries and channels of joint cooperation.
The meeting focused on ways to unify efforts of both parties to speed up the adoption of some laws that contribute in improving the work of the oversight bodies, combating corruption and protecting human rights.
