Thwart attempt to smuggle oil derivatives in Baghdad, arrest of 9 accused red-handed

CoI Investigation Office announced thwarting an attempt to smuggle and illegal trafficking of oil derivatives in Baghdad, confirming that it was able to arrest nine accused red-handed.

The Office reported that the staff of the Baghdad investigation directorate thwarted an attempt to trade and smuggle oil derivatives, pointing out that, according to a judicial order, eight drivers and an accountant in one of the garages in Al-Jihad neighborhood were caught red-handed in accordance with the provisions of Article 13 of the Anti- smuggling oil derivatives law.

The operation, carried out by the Directorate`s staffs, led to the seizure of a set of stationary tanks containing gas and gasoline, a group of load vehicles loaded with oil derivatives and others that were loading.

The directorate’s staffs organized a seizure minutes of the seized evidence and was submitted to the investigating judge who ordered the arrest of the accused under investigation, and issued an arrest warrant against the owner of the garage.
