COI Commissioner meets with IGs, proposes adopting unified frame for their offices work outputs

Dr. Al-Yasiri calls upon IGs to dissociate their offices from any ex ecutive procedure, commit to oversight role exclusively

COI Commissioner Dr. Hassan Al-Yasiri, stressed the importance of dissociating IGs Offices from entering into the procedures of the ex ecutive state institutions and abide supervisory role defined by the law. He pointed out that the concept of modern control is a method of evaluation rather than retaliation, calling for conveying the IGs’ message wisely away from defamation and collision that are not permitted by law.

During his meeting with the IGs at Iraqi Anti-Corruption Academy, Dr. Al-Yasiri revealed the Supreme Council for combating Corruption’s approval over COI’s proposal to establish Offices of IGs in some governorates in order to strengthen the system of control especially, after devolution of number of the ministry’s power to them, proposing to issue the annual reports of the offices of IGs according to a unified frame and according to models prepared by COI Researches and Studies Office, which ensure issuing those reports according to a frame that unifies methods of producing them; in order to ensure that they are presented accurately with ease of presentation to the public, media and Commission.

The meeting discussed a number of common issues, collaborating ways to improve mechanisms of direct coordination between them; in order to guarantee freedom for IGs Offices to carry out their evaluation work of the state institutions with wisdom and professionalism. The participants welcomed the newly appointed IGs, wishing them success for the public interest.
