CoI investigation directorate in Basrah returned a plot of land worth more than one billion two hundred million dinars to the Ministry of Trade, indicating that this was done in cooperation with the Office of the Inspector General in the Ministry.

The Directorate indicated that it received information about seizing a land plot by one of the staff of Basrah Governorate divan belonging to the General Grain Trade Company of the Ministry of Trade without any right or legal basis under the pretext of establishing a project for the benefit of the governorate.

Preliminary investigations led to the fact that the plot of land (1000 m), located in a special position in the center of the province, was seized by the employee through placing caravans on it under the pretext of possessing papers allow him to occupy it.

The directorate confirmed that it seized all the caravans under a judicial order and it returned the land plot to its original owner (Ministry of Trade) after the employee`s allegations had been proved false.
