After detecting manipulation, forging in its records… Re-ownership of land of Karbala canning factory amounting 150 billion dinars to state

Commission of Integrity revealed that it was able to return ownership of the property in Karbala province with value of (150.000.000.000) billion dinars to ownership of state, after detecting manipulation and forging in its records.

While talking about the details of retuning the property, COI investigation office, referred to receiving information about petition forgery of transfer immovable property (20 dunums) and its estimated value (150.000.000.000) billion dinars. Whereas the team of Karbala Investigation Office visited the Real Estate Registration Offices in the province to audit the records and files posting concerning with the property, indicating that the initial investigations led to the ownership of land belongs to the Ministry of Industry which Karbala Canning Factory was built on which it belongs to the Ministry. In 1989 the factory was sold with its machines and equipment to a private company, provided that the land should remained under the name of the Ministry, its ownership transferred via fraud in real estate registration records from the Ministry to the contracting company.

The office added that the investigative and following up procedures, carried out by the staffs of Karbala Investigation Office, led to re-registration of the property in the name of Ministry of Industry, the ministry has no knowledge about transferring the real estate property untill the commission make investigation and auditing.

The commission warned more than one time of increasing this phenomenon, calling on the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Justice- Real Estate Registration Office to make more serious measures to ensure the preservation of state property and citizens’ rights.
