COI`s Media Center would like to clarify the contents the letter of Investigation Office sent to Ministry of Transportation, which includes informing the Ministry of the Federal Court of Appel`s decision in the case of the convicted, Samer Karim Abed Ali Kubba, noting that a number of media and social media sites published Incorrect information about the letter`s content, claiming that it included a decision issued by COI.

The center mentioned that the content of the letter was very clear and did not require the interpretation or distortion of some media and social media sites. The letter clearly included informing Ministry of Transportation/Legal Office of the court of Appeal decision stipulated to commute of the penalty issued against the said culprit. The center clarified that COI is an investigation entity and has nothing to do with issuing of decision, which COI has repeatedly clarified on several occasions. And here we should remind, that COI carried out the arrest warrant, caught an act, against the culprit, and no other entity. Regarding issuing decisions, it is judiciary specialized with not our competence, as some tried to add to the news.

Media center COI initiate, soon as the sentence was issued, two-year imprisonment, against the culprit, to challenge the verdict for intensifying the punishment. This was announced on its official website on 20 September. However, the convict also filed an appeal for commuting the sentence. Therefore, there was two appeals, a first challenge filed by COI for intensifying the punishment and the other presented by the convicted for commuting the sentence. The appeal court reject to intensify the punishment, and accept the challenge of the convict to commutes the punishment. After the decision was issued, the Court notified COI; to do its role to notify the concerned entity (MOT), where the investigator of COI, according to the law, shall follow the directions of Judicial.

It should be emphasized here that what is stated in the COI letter is clear and there is no doubt, distortion or interpretation in the opposite way, as some said. As we believe that there are some persons who internally labeled and exaggerate, for personal well, in order to defame the supervision entities and that is definitely (the aims and means of the corrupts and their followers).
