CoI Commissioner: we prepared tens of files of money-recovery and extradition, we need cooperation for implementing them

CoI`s commissioner (Dr. Al-Yassiri) called for the participants in (Six conference of Ambassadors) held in Baghdad on 2\2\2018 for cooperating to reduce obstacles in implementation money-recovery and wanted file, indicating that CoI has completed dozens files of money-recovery and wanted and need to be concerted to implement them.

Dr. Al-Yassiri reviewed in a speech at the conference attended by the ambassadors of Republic of Iraq files of (money-recovery and wanted )that the Extradition Office in CoI was able to prepare them, diagnosing number of obstacles and difficulties that impede implementation these files, calling for the ambassadors to approach the states that provide safe haven for smuggled money and wanted to show cooperation and remove the obstacles that prevent return the Iraq`s smuggled money and wanted of Iraq judicially.

CoI commissioner, in his speech at the conference titled (Iraqi Diplomacy .. Reconstruction and Variation of Strategic partnerships) which organized by Foreign Ministry, clarified that Extradition office in the commission is the responsible entity for recovery the smuggled money and fugitives. The Extradition Office was able to supply dozens of files related to extradition and what followed by steps and measures with relevant authorities such as issuing red notes (international) and information bulletin. He explained that the efforts of the extradition office faced many difficulties and obstacles that prevented the implementation of most of them. Referring that the non-cooperation of countries incubator of the money and wanted persons and dual nationality are the main obstacles that prevent the commission from reaching to its aim; in order to prevent those obstacles from disabling Iraqi to recovery the funds and wanted persons judicially.

During the conference, the commissioner answered a number of questions, queries and proposals which presented by a number of ambassadors participating in the conference. He shed the light, during his response, on work and competence of commission, which stipulated in CoI law No.30 of 2011 and relating to recovery the funds and wanted persons.

The participants in conference agreed to presenting more cooperation between the countries and the Iraq represented by the commission of Integrity and Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and facilitating the obstacles that prevent recovery of funds and wanted persons judicially.
