CoI has revealed on Wednesday, 10\8\2016 details of questioning the Iraqi defense minister Khalid Al-Obeidi, detailing its investigative procedures of the case.

CoI stated that it has summoned the defense minister, speaker of the parliament, some of current and former members of the parliament to hear their statements and answer their questions about allegations released by the minister on blackmail and compromise.

CoI confirmed that it completed writing statements and checking minutes as well as reaching to some results based on the some available information which some of recommendations have been filed to the competent judicial members of investigation at the High Judicial Council regarding complete some of procedures on recordings scrutiny, phone calls and massages to and from those whom their statements were heard. It added that it recommended making use of the experts and artists; in order to get the voice tape analyzed, submit the report of experience on results as well. It drew attention to the significance of completing investigations regarding corporations` owners names came out in the defense minister`s statement in terms of companies` founders, directors, and contributing members of the boards in which some of those whose names were mentioned in the statements of the minister ask to refer or approve the contracts of supplying or provide service and etc.

CoI continued saying: such behaviors are the reason for doubts by practicing performance involves abuse of authority or power for profit and enrichment. This may require making further inquiries and investigate with the named persons by the judicial investigating members for verifying what have been they accused for.

CoI insisted upon its commitment towards legal context and frames determined by its applicable law No. 30 of 2011. It pointed out to a received letter issued by the competent judicial committee contained a request of referring the related documents to the committee in the areas of specialization. CoI recommendations have been referred with the related documents to the competent committee and in accordance with the law.
