The directorate of Legal Affairs considers as the spine of any institution in all government different organizations; it leads a major and distinct role throughout directing these institutions to follow legal procedures, and preventing from violating the law and adds legal capacity to its activities to achieve a success institutional work. Its outstanding duties and activities is the following:-
1.The Legal office in CoI characterized from other legal offices in different government institutions by being the only directorate specialized in suggesting laws legislations and suggesting valid laws amendments concerned with anti corruption and promoting transparency, integrity and straightness throughout motivating the sense of responsibility, straightness and clearness away from secrecy and strictness. CoI in return, submit these laws legislations and its amendments to the legislation authority represented by the parliament, according to order (55) of 2004 which assigned this task to the legal office in CoI.
2.This office performing opinion memorials and legal advisor in cases submitted by CoI commissioner, his deputy, offices in CoI, inspector general’s, ministries and independent authorities.
3.Following up corruption cases submitted to courts which been investigated by CoI investigators or investigators in other investigation courts.
4.Legal affairs office represents the commission in different courts, commissions and judicial committees and following up criminal and civil cases and appeal verdicts and decisions and following up cases in its final stages in courts beside following allegations in general discipline council.
5.The legal office is in charge on preparing programs to collect all provisions concerned with anti corruption and adopting a mechanism to review and correct legal documents and administrative procedures related to fighting corruption. And prepare studies and researches in preventing and fighting corruption field, and diagnoses faults in these laws and puts proper solutions and replacements.
6.Effective participation in different investigation, fining and other committees formed by CoI and from outside the commission.
7.Some of the legal office activities is to document, follow up and save the administrative investigation committee files, fining committees and following the government dept, and also marking and following committees formed by CoI to investigate in an exterior issues and also committees formed by other governmental institutions that CoI represented as a member in it.
