UNODC representative praised Iraq efforts in response to the requirements regarding the implementation of UNCAC as joined by Iraq in 2007.
In a televised closed circle with the CoI officials held at the Iraqi Anti Corruption Academy, UNODC reprehensive, Mr. Jason emphatically told the Iraqi delegate, that Iraq is heading other States Parties to the 10 years UNCAC in responding to the requirements by assuring the legal and the legislative frameworks, as well as, the practical steps to implement the Convention.
CoI and UN delegates discussed the preparations for Iraq as being a sponsor country within a UN committee, which will review the Canadian steps forward implementing UNCAC, insisting the necessity of being acquainted with the Canadian codes, so that Iraq could do its reviewing precisely and objectively.
UNODC representatives, Mr. Jason and Miss Jonathan mentioned that the committee from Jordan and Malaysia, which reviewed Iraq implementing the UNCAC chapter III and IV, had finally ratified the Blueprint report provided by Iraq regarding those two chapters which are dealing with anti bribery and measures to prevent mismanagement, abuse of powers, money laundering, prosecuting offenders, the international cooperation, extradition of criminals and cross- bordered stolen money recovery.
CoI and UN teams discussed the cooperation ,programs between them in training CoI staff on criminals extradition, stolen money recovery, conflict of interests, illicit enrichment and implementing the mutual and international agreements.
