Under the patronage of COI commissioner, judge Al`aa Jawad Hameed, the Iraqi Anti-corruption Academy celebrated the second anniversary of its establishment. The commissioner confirmed in his speech that "few of world countries worked on establishing such institutions, but Iraq was the first one in the Arabic region and regional area who took this great step to develop the capacities and capabilities of its employees to fight corruption".
He mentioned that "the Iraqi Anti-corruption Academy established according to the valid COI law No (30) ,2011 to ensure providing constant education to the staffs of oversight bodies".
The judge showed that "the Academy is concerned with providing high standards of academic and professional education to protect the public fund. Moreover, it is working on spreading the accountability concepts to reach the upmost levels of performance transparency in the work of GOI`s institutions"
He also referred in his speech that" the COI is proud to build this edifice which is combating corruption based on the scientific criteria and academic curriculum.
The director general of the Academy, Mr. Mudher AlJobouri stated that "The experience of new Iraq showed that there are two life obstacles, one is the terrorism and second is corruption. Both damaged our country as a cancer".
From other side, Mr. Aljobouri said "we need this academy to be as a base of a project that designed to protect the public fund, eradicate the corruption and also to build the oversight`s abilities for all government institutions"
He also expressed that "we are looking forward to make this academy working on enhancing the public conscious, raising the awareness of fighting corruption".
During the celebration, many presentations and poems were presented .these presentations called for spreading and enhancing the integrity culture. In addition to that a detailed report about the academy achievements and activities was also submitted.
