Workshop to illustrate CoI law and code of conduct to Southern Oil company employees

Under the patronage of his Excellency CoI Commissioner (Judge Alaa Jwad Hameed) and under the slogan "acknowledging law to improve work abilities", Education and Public Relations Office in CoI in coordination with Al Basrah Investigation Bureau and Southern Oil Company, organized a workshop at the Oil Cultural Center in Al Basrah province to illustrate CoI law and code of conduct. The workshop included two sessions, the first one was entitled "illustrating CoI law" and the second was entitled "illustrating code of conduct".
The first lecture was presented by the head of Planning and Development Department / Investigation Office / CoI (Mr. Ayman Dawood Salman) who gave an abundant illustration about CoI law which considered as a federal commission stipulated in (the constitution / article 102) among independent commissions. The lecturer indicated that the workshop was organized to acknowledge governmental employees about CoI work, procedures, goals and how to contact it whenever there is important information. He illustrated code of conduct as well as answering many questions raised by the workshop audience concerning the followed legal procedures during CoI investigations.
Head of Transparency and Performance Observation Department / Prevention Office, (Mr. Lwa`a Salman), presented a lecture to illustrate code of conduct and gave a brief background about the legal instrument supporting code of conduct issued by CoI using (article 8 of UNCAC) which is related to governmental employees code of conduct.
Legal department`s Deputy in Southern Oil Company (Mr. Aqeel Jassim) called for the necessity of repeating such educative symposiums and workshops monthly to illustrate CoI investigative procedures to legal departments` employees in governmental institutions.
Chief of engineers in Southern Oil Company (Mr. Akram Noor) confirmed during the workshop on how such symposiums are important and necessary for employees to be aware of their rights and duties as well as mentioning the necessity of improving this culture. He hoped that CoI will approach more media activities in provinces and showing people the information they need to see through informative and educative publications.
Director`s second Deputy in Southern Oil Company (Mr. Bassim Mohammed Khudair) expressed his happiness and gratefulness towards CoI for the workshop and the detailed information that CoI and lecturers illustrated side by side with Al Basrah investigations bureau. He also called for organizing such workshops periodically to decrease obstacles between CoI employees and the rest of employees.
