Fighting corruption … Three captures and sentences against embezzlers

An officer in the anti- drugs department was arrested under judicial order in Messan, because he was terrifying and blackmailing people in financial claiming existence cases against them there.

One of the CoI informants got a phone call from an anonymous person demanding him to pay three Millions ID as a bribe to close a false claim regarding drugs.

And when he notified CoI office and the investigation judge and following the right investigation procedures, it become clear that the suspect (A.G.L) was using his own cell to call people and demand them to pay money to close the alleged cases against them.

Judicial sources stated that the investigation judge ordered to continue detaining the suspected and verifying all criminal evidences and the money seized with him to finish the investigation procedures and to disclose the fraud cases.

According to a judicial order and by cooperating with law enforcement officers, Thiqar CoI investigation office arrested a person impersonating as an official at municipality of Nassiryia.

(A.G.L) confessed before the investigators that he received money from the claimant (K.A.A) for approval to establish a booth in AL-Nassirya/Shemookh area.

The suspected revealed a third person involving in this case. An arrest warrant issued by the judge against him to complete the investigation. On the other side, six suspects have been arrested by Basrah/CoI Investigation Office due to participation in forgery of civil status records in the directorate of nationality.

According to a decision by the investigation judge, an operation was carried out to monitor and pursue the suspects who carried out the fraud, with some inspectors in the Ministry of Interior, in one of AL-Basrah hotels.

The Judge`s decision was to refer all suspects to court according to Article (307) of Penalty Code.

Relatively, 2009 sentences were issued by the specialized courts in Baghdad and provinces against 1085 public money abusers in the last nine months.

A priority was for Missan investigation office (132) followed by Dywanyia (114), Kirkuk (112) and Babel (100) cases.

A report by CoI legal office stated that, Alkarkh investigation office carried out (96), Nineveh (72), Thiqar (70) then Risafa and Wasit with (68), Karbala and Diyala (70) cases.

Both al Anbar and al Muthanna offices presented (24), Najaf (19), while Saladin came in last with (12) cases.
