Ministry of science and technology symposium … CoI urge I.G’s to be aware of the code of conduct

Jul 30 , 2012

Commission of integrity stressed on the necessity of activating the role of IGs in ministries and governmental institutions in raising the employees’ awareness with the code of conduct.

A report of prevention department of CoI referred that the employees of the Ministry of Science and Technology are among employees who did not improve their awareness of the context of the code of conduct for the last three years.

This report showed that prevention department teams had conducted two surveys in the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2010 and 2012; the findings were almost equal in the rate of employees` awareness of the code of conduct items which was about 63%. These results reflect the negligence of IG office in the ministry in educating their employees.

It also referred that the prevention department had conducted a symposium to present the context of the code of conduct as it is considered a legal obligation by the employee toward his/her directorate, responsibilities, work ethics and any penalties that could condemn him/her in case of concealing any corruption cases in his/her office.

During the symposium, they showed the government employees` discipline act

(No.14 amended 1991) and the civilian service act (No. 24 amended 1990) to apply the rules of code of conduct.

It was decided during this symposium that all employees should sign this code while many points of views were presented concerning protecting informers who give information about corruption cases and to spread the principles and ethics of integrity and human rights needs.
