Council of Representatives votes for CoI Law

CoR voted in his 32ed session, presided by the head of CoR Mr. Osama AL-Nujaifi, and with the attendance of (248) members for CoI Law on Saturday the 24th/9/2011.

At the beginning of the session the council voted for CoI Law suggestion, submitted by integrity and legal committees, to organize CoI work and to clarify its specialties, duties and authorities in order to achieve these duties in raising the level of integrity, maintain the public properties, fighting corruption and to organize the relationship between them and other auditing entities.

The most important thing in this Law is the mechanism for choosing the CoI Commissioner which is by forming a committee, by the CoR, consisting of (9) members from integrity and legal committees to choose (3) candidates for this position. Also the establishing of three directorates which are: Extradition office, Studies and Researches office and the Iraqi Anti-Corruption Academy. The Law established a second deputy position for CoI Commissioner, holding a bachelor degree in education or media, who will be in charge of Education and PR office and relations with NGOs office as well as awarding the employees of CoI additional allocations.
