CoI’s Investigation Office revealed the issuance of a prison sentence against the former Minister of Culture for causing intentional damage to the funds and interests of the party in which he worked.
In the course of discussing case details, the Office pointed out that Al-Karkh Criminal Court issued a default sentence against the former Minister of Culture to seven years in prison for issuing orders to give various weapons without convincing reason unlike regulations.
The Office explained that the decision issued on May 8, based on the provisions of Article 340 of Penal Code, included the issuance of arrest warrant against the fugitive convict and confirming seizure decision on his movable and immovable property.
While it gave the complainant (Ministry of Culture), the right to claim compensation before civil courts after the sentence became irrevocable.
