Seizing unsettled advances for Nineveh Province Chamber valuing more than 48 billion dinars

CoI’s Directorate of Investigation in the province of Nineveh revealed seizing six petitions to release advances valuing more than 48 billion dinars in the Chamber of the Province, indicating that the advances were released to be distributed on the committees of work implementation of restoring stability for 2018.

The Directorate, in its talk about the details of the seizure operation carried out under a judicial memorandum, explained that its procedures, which were taken to follow up the funds spent before the dismissal of the former governor of Nineveh, resulted in the seizure of six petitions of advances to the committees of receiving funds in the Chamber of the Province with a (30%) from the operational budget, noting that the amounts of advances (48.077.125.000) billion dinars have not been settled until the day of implementing of the operation, as well as the absence of any cash in the Province Chamber.

It added that its initial detections led to the arrest of two members of the funds reception committee, who were presented with the criminal exhibits seized before the competent investigative body that decided to confine them, based on the provisions of Article 315 of the Penal Code.

Noteworthy to mention that CoI revealed on the 22nd of last April the destination of funds withdrawn before the dismissal of the former governor of Nineveh, confirming the establishment of a high-level investigative team to investigate the information about the withdrawal of funds from the funds allocated to restore stability in the province, and indicating that it was to follow up the amounts which documents were seized and which amounted to (76.000.000.000) billion dinars, after seizing 14 officials and employees in the Nineveh Province Chamber as well as more than 15 billion dinars in their liability.
