An Investigation Office in COI announced the details of judgment on scrap case of State Company for Engineering Support in Ministry of Industry and Minerals, pointing out to the conviction of the former DG of the company by Al- Rusafa Misdemeanor Court specialized in integrity cases, money laundering and economical crime.
The Office declared in the course of its speech the details of the case investigated by COI and the case has been referred to the justice system, moreover the office indicted that the fugitive accused signed a contract with a private company to sell the scrap of the company without taking an appropriate measures, pointing out that the sale operation was conducted in contrary to the provisions of Sale and Lease of State Property Law No. (21 of 2013).
The details of the case indicated that the General Company for Engineering Support had processed the product to match the international standards, in addition to that the cost of transporting, processing, packing and storing has been added to the benefit of the company but not for which the scrap has been sold has also been added, not for the benefit of the benefit of his office. Thus, the accused has violated his duties and the liability was approved against him that damaged the public funds.
The Court had reviewed the obtained evidence in this case as the statement of the legal representative of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals who requested the complaint against the accused, in addition to the administrative investigation carried out by Inspector General Office in the Ministry that approved the liability of the accused, the statements of witnesses and the statement of the accused whose his case was sorted and the presumption of the escape of the accused, so the court found an evidence were sufficient to convict the former DG of the General Company for Engineering Support in accordance with the provisions of Article 341 of the Penal Code.
The judgment included the issuance of an arrest warrant against the accused and the seizure of his movable and immovable assets, while the affected party had the right to review the civil courts; to ask for compensation when the judgment reached its final steps.
