Commission of Integrity disclosed the details of the sentence in the case of the irregularities in the referral of two contracts to build 65 schools, confirming the issuance of a prison sentence against the former director of contracts department in Ministry of Education, with the existence of a number of a criminal cases before the courts for consideration against a number of defendants whom their case have been sorted.
In the course of discussing case details investigated by the commission previously, CoI’s investigation office announced that the fugitive convict in a compliance with other defendants caused willful damage in funds and interests of the party in which they were working; indicating that the convict as a committee member did not inform Ministry of Education about the essential notes mentioned by central contracts committee , in addition to the documents of two contracts of constructing 65 schools were not referred to Inspector General Office before submitting them to the central contracts committee, noting that the contracts were referred to two public companies.
The commission clarified that after reviewing the statement of legal representative of Ministry of Education who demanded complaint against the accused person, in addition to the statement of the accused person and presumption of his escape, the criminal court on integrity cases in Baghdad became convinced to criminalize the convict above- mentioned and sentenced him to seven-years imprisonment in accordance with provisions of article 340 PC.
The verdict included issuing an arrest and detect order against the accused person with sizing his movable and immovable assets as well as granting the affected party (Ministry of Education) the right to demand compensation before civil courts after the decision became irrevocable.
The commission disclosed last month that the criminal court on integrity cases in Baghdad issued a sentence for seven years in prison against the convict person for violating the contract of building six prefab schools.
