The Office recommended to monitor and follow- up the work of the councils of parents and teachers in all schools
Office of Prevention in COI recommended that the Ministry of Education and the Inspector General Office to direct the General Directorates of Education in Baghdad and the provinces to activate the role of the sections of the councils of parents and teachers in all schools.
Office of Prevention requested in a report made by its field team that met with the assistant inspector general of the Ministry of Education, moreover the team visited Al-Qeirwan secondary school for Boys to verify the accuracy of the information mentioned in the report of a satellite channel and it was monitored by COI media center concerning taking the donations from the students in contrary to regulations. The report called for organizing and following-up of the work of the councils of parents and teachers, in addition to conduct seminars to explain it to shed light on the law no. (1/1994) and to introduce its provisions; to ensure the application of the legal provisions for accepting donations and contributions and regulating the expenditures.
The team pointed out in its report which a copy was sent to the Office of the Minister of Education, that the administration of the school which had 613 students, confirmed that the councils of parents and teachers were working in cooperation with the Department and organized its work through periodic meetings and records of meetings and donations, The council determines the amounts of donations and contributions and regulating the expenditures according to purchase receipts.
The report added that the collection of donations and contributions through the councils of parents and teachers, pointing out that the role of the administration is limited to identify the needs of the school; the lack of financial allocations, which leads to recourse to the Council to meet those needs.
The report pointed out that the councils of parents and teachers that the parents of the students unanimously agreed to donate each of them in the amount of fifty thousand dinars; to equip the school with smart boards and maintenance of the stadium, received the contributions of seven parents of students, and returned to donors after the publication of the news, The legal basis for collecting donations from students is the law No. 1 (1994) of the Parents and Teacher Councils.
