Thwarting oil smuggling attempt, recovering land ownership to state property in Basra

An investigation office in COI revealed conducting two separated seizing operations in Basra province that led to thwart kerosene smuggling attempt in the Southern port of Umm Qasr, recovering land ownership to state in Basra.

The office confirmed that the staff from Basra investigation office cooperated with the National Security to seized five accused persons whom were caught red-handed for trying to smuggle kerosene registered in the manifest as hydraulic, indicating that one of the accused was a member at the committee of inspection in the Southern port of Umm Qasr and four were working on vessels; they were brought before the competent judge who decided to detain them according to the provision of article 340/ PC.

The office added that the team from Basra investigation office managed, in a separate operation, to seize three accused persons moreover for taking over green areas belongings to Basra Municipality with no legal justifications, pointing out that they seized the plot located near the Directorate of Passports in the city, in addition to establishing 30 offices and renting them to citizen.

The office added that a due seizure minutes was organized for the accused persons and submitted it before investigative judge to take the appropriate legal actions.
