Seven years imprisonment sentence against Ministry of Education’s director of contracts

Investigation Office/COI revealed that the court on corruption cases sentenced, in absentia, to seven years imprisonment against the former director of contracts in the Ministry of Education.
The Office pointed out, while it talking about the details of the case which the Commission has already investigated and referred to the court,  that the fugitive culprit caused intentional damages to public funds and the interests of the body that work for, noting to the irregularities that accompanied the contract of building six schools in the style of  prefabs. The irregularities are: the director failed to inform the Central Committee of Contracts about non approval of the Ministry of Planning on the estimated costs, since he was the competent member in charge.
The court fund that the group of evidence is sufficient to criminalized the culprit according to the article 340 pc, after reviewing the statements of the legal representative of the Ministry of Education, who requested the complaint against the accused, the minutes of the investigative committee which proved the shortcoming of the suspect, statements of the culprits, their cases were separated, and assumption of ran away of the suspect.
The decision included issuance of the arrest warrant against the convicted person, with the support of the seizure of his movable and immovable assets as well as the affected party (Ministry of Education) has the right to request the compensation before the civil courts after the decision comes final.
COI has revealed, in 23rd of this month, irregularities and exaggeration in the estimated cost of 148 titles of school textbooks up to 15 billion dinars, in addition to irregularities in contract concluded with a British Company to print and distribute curriculum up to 23 million US dollar.
