COI commissioner calls to develop vision for work of national oversight system for coming years

COI Commissioner, Ezat Tawfeq Jaafar, stressed the need to establish a clear vision for the National Oversight System for the coming years. Commissioner pointing out the importance of assuming National Oversight System evaluation the government program and mechanism of put it comes into effect.

The commissioner stressed, during the monthly meeting of Inspectors General in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministers Council Dr. Mahdi Al-Alaq and the Head of the Federal Board of Supreme Audit Dr. Salah Nuri Khalaf, the need to supervise government performance, especially in the field of fighting corruption in both preventive and investigative aspects, demanding to establish a vision for the steps of national regulatory system represented by COI, BSA and IGs’ Offices for the coming years in order to submit it to Joint Council for Fighting Corruption. The commissioner suggested to form a select committee to create this vision, noting that the coming days will see a practical and systematic evaluation of IG’s Offices.

Through the meeting, which held in Iraqi Anti-Corruption Academy, discussed the agenda of meeting, especially the suggestion presented by Education and Public Relations Office to form a group of monitoring media. The meeting concluded to appoint representatives from IG’s Offices to coordinate and exchange the activities of offices.

It is worth mentioning that COI hosts a monthly meeting of IG’s Offices in the presence of COI Commissioner and BSA to discuss the challenges facing the work of Offices of Inspectors General and overcome the difficulties of the work of the National Regulatory System and develop practical steps to enhance its work.
