Basra Investigation Directorate seizes manipulations in Altanuma bridge project caused loss of nearly 6 million dollars

CoI investigation directorate in Basra announced that it had been able to control the navigational part of a movable bridge stored in a warehouses of one of the public companies in Basra since 2012, which has not been delivered to the carrying out company of Altnuma bridge, causing a waste of public money worth (5,649,000) US dollars. The directorate indicated that the operation was carried out under a judicial order.

The directorate indicated that it received information indicating the existence of the navigation part of opening and closing Altnuma bridge for the ships loaded with goods heading to ( Almakal ) port, stored inside the warehouse of (Ibn Majid) Company in Basra province for six years, has not been delivered to the carrying out company of the bridge as one of the contractual obligations of the implementing company, despite its demands.
 
The investigations led to the discovery of a deliberate negligence and manipulation, which caused a waste of public funds worth (5,649,000) million dollars, where a contract was concluded with another company to set up the navigation part after the expiration of the contract with the original implementing company of the bridge.

The directorate confirmed that a seizure minutes with all the project related documents was organized under a judicial memorandum and the investigation documents were presented before the competent investigative judge in order to take appropriate legal action.
